All three financial services companies were already required to stop dealing with Russian banks because of government-imposed sanctions, and did so last week. The new bans, which impact consumers, are not required by sanctions and were instead imposed as acts of conscience.

This means suspended private accounts are either affiliated, collaborating, or working with/for sanctioned entities.

Fedorov called for app stores to be shut down, GitHub access denied to Russia, and for Skype and Teams to be shuttered. Last week, Fedorov called for Sony and Microsoft to suspend accounts of Russians on the PlayStation Network and XBOX communities.

That hasn’t happened, but three big games publishers – Activision Blizzard, Epic Games, and EA Sports – have suspended sales of games and content.

Wealthy Russians outside the country may not find much safety, at least for their assets.

As the world braces for economic impact from the conflict and historic sanctions against Russia, a number of technology firms show solidarity with Ukraine globally

Many major tech companies—including Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, Google, Intel, AMD, HP Inc., HPE, Dell and more—are complying with strict and historic sanctions against Russia after it invaded Ukraine this week.

The Biden administration ordered U.S. companies not to do business with Russia. And multinational corporations are joining in the boycott effort as well.
The list of companies suspending operations in Russia seems to be growing by the hour, including the world’s most valuable company: Apple.

There wasn’t much of a question of whether the major U.S.

Petersburg and Kaliningrad in the Baltic Sea, Novorossiysk in the Black Sea, and Vladivostok and Vostochny on Russia’s east coast.

Deutsche Post, announced it had stopped DHL deliveries to Russia.

German shipping company Hapag Lloyd said it had issued a temporary suspension on bookings for Russia and halted sailings for Ukraine.

Shipping company MSC has stopped cargo bookings to and from Russian but will still accept and screen food and humanitarian cargoes.

Swiss logistics company Kuehne und Nagel indefinitely suspends all import shipments into Russia with immediate effect.

Boeing said it was suspending parts, maintenance and technical support for Russian airlines.

Banks

Global bank HSBC is beginning to wind down relations with a host of Russian banks including the second-largest, VTB.

The bank has little direct exposure in Russia, with around 200 employees and annual revenues of $15 million in the country, against its global income of $50 billion.

Nordic lender Nordea said it had suspended trading in investment funds heavily exposed to Russia.

Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) is looking into leaving Russia, two people with knowledge of the matter told Reuters.
